In 2015 we purchased our 40 acre property.  With our newly purchased property we both love being outdoors and coming from a country background we wanted something to do outside during the summer. Over the winter we came up with the idea of starting a u pick strawberry farm.
In The spring of 2016 we started researching and preparing a 5 acre piece of land for planting our first strawberries. In the spring of 2017 we planted our first acre and a half of strawberries and throughout that summer we nurtured and worked the young plants making sure they were weed free. Maintaining our first patch of strawberries was a tough endeavor but we quickly found ways of making it easier.
The spring of 2018 was our first picking season and we also planted another few more acres of strawberries. Our first year of u pick strawberries went as well as it could possibly be but like anything we learnt a lot of valuable lessons.
Fast forward to now we operate depending on years anywhere from 7 to 10 acres of strawberries and still learning more every day. What makes the work all the more rewarding is seeing the customers pull into the yard with big smiles on their face and even bigger and redder smiles when they leave. Growing the strawberries is rewarding but meeting new people, seeing return customers and hearing everyone’s story is the best part of the job.
